Castle Black is an ever-evolving thunderstorm of sound on a back-drop of addictive hooks and edgy soundscapes. Described as drawing from punk, post-punk, grunge, alternative and new wave, Castle Black defies the average rock genre. “Castle Black have created a new sound of uncompromised work that have drawn comparisons to nearly every type of underground rock from the last four decades.” (The Aquarian) With an intense live show, “impossible to tell what was coming next, except that it was bound to be loud and hard and intense – and catchy" (NY Music Daily), Castle Black is a “reminder of what dominating guitar riffs, melodic basslines, booming drums and a powerful singer with rock prowess can do.”  (Subversive Zine)

“Castle Black have been carving up a unique niche of music that is bold, powerful, intense, and special, delivering a soulful brand of alternative rock/grunge filled with feminine angst and plenty of hooks that will mesmerize you from beginning to end.” (Stage 1 Press)  2024’s Bright-Eyed landed on Turn Up the Volume’s 2024 Top Singles from Upcoming Albums list and on Scenes from the Underground’s Top 20 Songs of 2023 list. The music video was selected for the first ever Maker Park Radio Music Video Showcase taking place in Staten Island in April 2024. The band was honored among the Elephant Talk Indie Music Magazine Winners over the last several years with many annual awards, including Community Band of the Year, Top Musician, Best Drummer, Best Performance, and Best Short Album (Take Her My Life, Get Up, Dancer). The band ranked number 22 on Radio Crystal Blue’s Top 100 Artist Countdown of 2020 and was named 2019’s Best Non-Local Rock Act by Punk Rock Night (Indianapolis). NY Music Daily included their 2017 release Trapped Under All You Know on their Best of 2017 list, included the single "Broken Bright Star" on the Best Songs of 2017 list, and included their live show on their Best Shows of 2017 list. Music Existence named the band among their Top Alternative Rock Picks of 2017.

Their first full-length album, The Highway at Night, will be released on June 21, 2024. Their last EP Get Up, Dancer was released on Oct 1, 2021, with the single and video for “Sorry” released on September 17th, 2021. The EP was produced and mixed by Mark Plati (known for his work with David Bowie and Prince, among others). Their previous EP, Take Her My Life, also mixed by Plati, was released in November 2019, with Part A of the EP released on vinyl. These “songs defy the average and are powerful and hard-hitting, always focused on hitting that trademark hook you’re waiting for.” (Puregrain Audio) The video for “Dead in a Dream” was released in April 2020, a visual stunner during an otherwise bleak pandemic.

Their fourth studio EP, the gods that adored you, was released in 2018. “The energy embodied within this 5 track, 22 minute EP from Castle Black is a force which will withstand critiques from even the harshest outcry.” (Dear Entitled) “Sierra” (off the gods that adored you) was released as a single earlier that year, and was widely adored, “taking to issue all of the tremors that are shaking the world today with the punk and tone strong voices can only make.”  (Uncivil Revolt)  The band has released three other EPs: Trapped Under All You Know (2017), Losing Forever (2016), and Find You There (2015), as well as several singles and official videos, in addition to a limited-edition run of a lathe-cut record for their single “Blind Curtain,” released on Leesta Val Sound Recordings in 2017.
